PORK SAUSAGE PIE - VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY


Pork Sausage Pie - Vegetarian Friendly

Allergy Alert; If you are allergic to any of the ingredients, then don't use this recipe. Use gluten free products if you are coeliac or wheat intolerant

Ingredients

2 cups flour
2 level teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon brown sugar
Quarter pound butter or margarine 
Three quarters tablespoon Ice Water 
2 sliced hard boiled eggs
Thinly sliced tomato
Milk sufficient to brush pastry
Pinch salt

Method

1. Sift flour, salt and baking powder
2. Rub in butter or margarine, and work into soft dough with iced water
3. Divide pastry in two and line pie dish with half pastry
4. Boil 500 g vegetarian substitute pork sausages. 
Tofu - or textured soy protein - or tempeh can be used as pork substitute [See link below]
5. Remove skins [if there are any] and mash sausages with 
1 teaspoon brown sugar
6. Cover pastry with 'sausage', 2 hard boiled eggs [sliced] and thinly sliced tomato and cover with pastry
7. Brush with milk
8. Bake 425 degrees for 15 minutes, then reduce heat until the pie is properly baked through


Serving Suggestion
Serve pie with mash and veggies, 
steaming from the oven
A nice gravy will add that final touch
